Join Eric Chappell for an in-depth discussion in this video Swapping parts, part of AutoCAD Civil 3D: Designing Gravity Pipe Systems.
- In the previous video,…we created some new structures in the drawing,…but we know that they aren't the type…of structure that we need.…Let's take a look at how swapping parts is the solution…in this case.…We're talking about these two structures…currently represented by the purple circle with the S in it.…They've even come in the wrong style,…a sanitary sewer manhole style,…and if you recall from the previous video…the type of structure that they are…is called a null structure,…so they're kind of an empty placeholder…maybe in a place where we just want to create a bend…in the pipe or a T that doesn't a structure there.…
That's where we might use a null structure as a placeholder.…But that's of course not what we want here,…we want an actual manhole.…So what do we do?…Well, like we learned in the last video,…we can modify this pipe network by first clicking on it…and that will give us some options.…I'll click on a pipe or structure in the network,…and I notice that right here on the ribbon…is the Swap Part command,…
