Splitting a network - AutoCAD Civil 3D Tutorial
From the course: AutoCAD Civil 3D: Designing Gravity Pipe Systems
Splitting a network
Sometimes you'll begin your design assuming that two or more networks will be separate, typically meaning that they'll have separate outfalls. Then, you may decide to combine the networks so that they can share the same outfall. To do that, you'll have to merge the networks. Let's see how that's done. So, let's talk about our project here and for a moment, let's assume that we want these two separate networks, currently the road network and the parking lot network to share a common outfall and let's just say, for example, that we want to reroute this pipe to this inlet. It's kind of a silly solution because of the angles of the pipes, but just bare with me. So, piece of cake, right? I can just click the end of this pipe and bring it over to this structure. Well, if you recall from a few videos ago, when I do this, I'm expecting to see that glyph that tells me that I'm connecting the pipe to the structure. Why am I not seeing it? The reason is because the pipe that I'm currently…
