Editing a design profile graphically
Design is an iterative process and typically progresses from a rough lay out to something more refined. Luckily, Civil 3D provides excellent tools for modifying profiles, especially the graphical tools that we're going to look at in this video. The primary tool for graphically editing a profile is the Grip. And if you studied alignments, you'll know that alignments have specialized grips on them that you can use to control their geometry. Profiles are just like that, too. On a Profile, we have a square grip at the end and at the beginning that you can put in any location in the drawing to change the location of that point. Profiles also have the same smart behavior that alignments have, and as you make changes to them, the geometry adjacent to your changes will update itself automatically.
