Quantity Take Off

- Quantity takeoff, or QTO, is a powerful Civil 3D function that will automate the capture and reporting of pipe network quantities for your designs. Let's see how it works. The first thing I'll need to do is load a Pay Item File into this drawing. So to do that I'll go to the Analyze tab, and click QTO Manager, and you'll notice it's currently blank. So I'll click the Open Pay Item File command, and it allows me to open some files. I've got a Pay Item File and then a Pay Item Categorization File, so I'll just use some samples that come with the software. If I browse to, I think the software will default you to this location, this data folder, and from here you can go to Pay Item Data > Getting Started and then pick the Getting Started.csv file, and that takes care of the Pay Items. Now there are lots of them, so it helps to have a Categorization File, to kind of organize all the different Pay Items that may be in the Pay Item File.
