Adding channels and berms
- [Instructor] After taking a first pass at your grading design, you'll almost always find small elevation or drainage issues that you have to address. Let's take a look at one case of that. When we first look at our grading design, everything looks pretty good. We've got a nice, uniform set of contours, everything's sloping toward this lower left corner just like we had hoped, but then we realize that we have a building here, and that, if runoff drains across this parking lot in the direction that we've designed it to, it's going to run into the side of the building, and that's never a good idea. So how do we fix this? In one way, and there's always multiple ways to do this, but one way in this case is with feature lines. So what I'll do is I'll start off by creating a feature line by simply tracing over the left, back and right edges of this building. So I'll just snap to the corners, as endpoints and I'll press enter with each elevation, just accepting the default. Which I think is…
