Prepare for the switching portion of the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 (ICND2) exam, as well as for real-world challenges you may see in your switching environment.
- [Russell] Hi, I'm Russell Long and I have over 17 years experience in IT, ranging from a layer-one construction guy, all the way to a virtual data center manager. Now, I began to teach technologies about six years ago, and I have really enjoyed the adventure, so I really look forward to teaching you through this ICND2 Switching Course. Now, in this course, we will cover installation management and troubleshooting of a medium-sized network. The content will be focused on real-world and ICND2 version 3.0 exam topics for switching.
This course is obviously focused around Cisco switches, but many of theories we discuss and learn here are going to apply to any layer 2 networking equipment you deal with. Now, we will also cover some of the basics of security precautions and best-practices that should be put into place at a switch level. And lastly, I learned a lot in my career through watching other people doing configurations and troubleshooting. I will try and give you that same advantage I have by doing lots and lots of demonstrations.
So, I'm pretty excited about this, let's go ahead and get started.
- VLAN basics
- Voice VLANs
- VLAN Trunking Protocol
- Spanning Tree Protocol
- How STP modes work
- STP configuration demo
- Logical switching architecture
- Security management
