- [Instructor] In this video, we want to talk about the Simple Network Management Protocol or SNMP. We'll talk about it in theory first, and then give some examples of how it might show up in a Cisco Unified Communications environment. And based on the seal core blueprint, we do not need to know how to do the configuration of SNMP but we just need to understand the theory and be able to explain it. So first, let's take a look at the theory of SNMP. In an SNMP environment, we probably have some sort of an SNMP manager, and that's going to be communicating with different SNMP agents. An SNMP manager might be a server-running SNMP management software that can monitor what's going on on these different devices running the SNMP agents. And this communication can be two-way.
