- When we're adding an IP phone, something else we can specify is the user associated with that phone. And we can create a user account, give that user account specific permissions and that's what we're going to do in this video. We're going to have a couple of phones at our HQ side and we're going to call those HQ phone 1 and HQ phone 2. And I want to create a user for each phone in this video, we'll have one user that's literally named HQ phone 1 and another that's named HQ phone 2 and the user database will live inside of our communications manager server. That's not the only way to do it though. We could have an LDAP server, a lightweight directory access protocol server that communications manager reaches out to to get username information that will prevent us from having to maintain a user database for this service and for this other service and for that other service we can have a central repository for users and…
