- [Instructor] In this video, we're going to talk about DNS and how it's used in a collaboration environment. First, let's do a bit of DNS review. DNS, that stands for Domain Name System, and that's a service that lets us resolve a name into a corresponding IP address. I don't know about you, but for me, it's a lot easier to remember the name of a device on the internet or my local network, as opposed to its IP address. For example, let's say we're sitting on this desktop computer on the left of your screen and we're wanting to go to kwtrain.com's web server. Well, we don't know the IP address of kwtrain.com, but we do know the IP address of a DNS server, maybe we've been configured with it statically, maybe we learned that DNS server's IP address via DCP, but somehow, we know the DNS server's IP address. So we're going to go out to that DNS server and say, what is the IP address of kwtrain.com? And the DNS server is going…
