- [Instructor] In this video, let's consider a design consideration. How does the bandwidth used by our audio calls and our video calls, how does that bandwidth impact an IP WAN interconnecting a couple of sites? Now, I focus on the IP WAN because we're typically not concerned much with the bandwidth of audio and video calls within a site. After all, we probably have our ethernet switches interconnected with gig links or 10-gig links or even higher. But it's between those locations where we typically have less throughput that we want to pay attention to the bandwidth being consumed by our audio and video streams. First, let's consider audio. And the formula for calculating how much bandwidth total a voice call takes up is to take the total packet size and multiply that by the number of packets that we're sending per second.
