- [Greg] Routing forms the basis for nearly all modern network communication. I'm Greg, and I've been building networks world wide for over 15 years. In this course I'll discuss the prerequisites of injecting routes into routing protocols. I'll then review how routes are redistributed in EIGRP, and then I'll demonstrate a common configuration. Redistribution into OSPF has a few quirks which I'll discuss. Then I'll show how to put them into practice. External types will be discussed and configured.
It can be tricky to determine which path external routes will take in OSPF, so I'll walk you through a path selection process. Route maps offer extremely granular control over route redistribution, and it's demonstrated via EIGRP and OSPF. It is possible for problems to arise from mutual route redistribution, so common remedies are discussed and demonstrated. Cisco's core packet switching technologies are examined. This includes process switching, fast switching, and Cisco Express Forwarding.
Policy-based routing is another interesting route manipulation system that's examined. Cisco's IP Service-Level Agreement functionality can be used for statistical analysis as well as decision making via object tracking, of which the latter is shown. Last, Cisco's Virtual Routing and Forwarding Lite system is demonstrated in a simple service provider scenario.
