- [Greg] Routing forms the basis for nearly all modern network communication. I'm Greg, and I've been building networks worldwide for over 10 years. In this course, I'll discuss common network design blocks and some of the questions associated with choosing the right IGP. I'll then cover the basic operational differences between distance vector, link-state, and path vector routing protocols. Some various traffic types will then be reviewed. Next, I'll walk step by step through the basic routing process and cover what happens when traffic takes different paths.
Some of the testable details of TCP, UDP, and ICMP will be examined. Migration strategies are important to Cisco, so I'll evaluate a few. Remote connectivity is a reality for virtually every network and I'll cover a few like GRE tunnels, MPLS VPNs, Easy Virtual Networking, and DMVPN. Last, I'll cover the basic principles of IPv6 all the way through basic configuration of addressing and routing.
