The Radial mask is far more flexible than the Vignette tool for your landscape work. In this video, instructor Derrick Story shows how to use this mask to edit images in Capture One Pro 12.
- [Instructor] The vignette tool is down at the bottom … of the Exposure tool tab. … And I've never been totally in love with it, … mainly because I just don't feel like … I have the control that I want for setting a vignette. … Now I'm going to go ahead and just show you … what a vignette looks like on this. … So there's a vignette set with Elliptical on Crop, … Circular on Crop, … and then just Circular. … Since there isn't a crop, there isn't much difference there. … So really, I have very little control over what's going on, … in terms of what's affected by the vignette, … other than the intensity of the vignette itself. … That's it. … I don't get to control the shape … or the inner brightness or any of that. … And then, of course, I can go the other way … to offset maybe the effect of a lens hood … that's too small or something. … So I was really happy to see that we have … a radial gradient screen now to work with, … which I think is far more intelligent than a vignette, … and it's what I recommend. …
