As you start working in Captivate 8, you'll notice right away that there are certain preferences that you wish were the same between all the projects that you create, and you can change from these preferences by setting the global Captivate preferences. I'm going to go and click on Adobe Captivate in the upper navigation menu and then select Preferences. Here I have preferences that I can choose to change that will impact every single Adobe Captivate presentation that I create. For example, if I click on general settings, here once again I can enable custom workspaces for all of the presentations that I create. I can also choose some recording default settings.
For example, when I record presentations, do I want to hear the keystrokes? And I'm going to go ahead and unselect that so we don't hear them when we're recording our presentations. Or during recording, if you use keyboard shortcuts to pause and resume recording, you can change those here. Currently have it set as Cmd+F2, and I'm going to leave it set as Cmd+F2 for this course. When you're creating projects, you can also choose to have various default information automatically filled out. For example, I know that every project I create, I'll be the author for it. So I can go ahead and type my name into the author section. You can put in company information, websites, anything that you'd like.
So that any time you create a project you don't have to take the time to fill this information out. It's going to be pre-filled for you. Now, I'm not going to fill out Project Name and Description because those are going to vary from project to project. You can also choose to change the Size and Quality of presentations that you create. For example, if you're always creating presentations at the same size or at the same quality, you could set it here once and then every new project you create will automatically be set to these preferences. There's also some options for quizzing or how you create quizzes. We'll come back to these quiz preferences as we start working in the quiz section of this course.
For the most part, I'm going to leave all of these at their default setting except for the few that we just changed. Let's go and click okay and head back to our main project.
