- Before we plunge into learning how to create custom e-learning interactions, let's talk about it's building blocks, which are Actions and Triggers. There are tons of Actions available in Captivate ranging from as easy a task as jumping to a different slide, playing audio, toggling the value of a variable to an extremely complex action like executing JavaScript. Here's a list of different actions available in Captivate. We can broadly categorize these actions in 6 buckets. The first category of actions is for controlling the timeline to decide the navigation of the course. This will help you create a simple linear course as well as a branched course. For linear courses, you'll be using actions like 'go to the previous slide' and 'go to the next slide' which are typically used for the Back and Next buttons on the slide.
