Now that we have our project set up and we've got a theme applied to our project. Let's go and discuss placing elements on our actual slides. Now if you're just getting caught up with this all we've done at this point is opened up a responsive project. And we've applied the nimble theme to this project. We've also added a Content Slide and then used the Master Slide drop-down to select this particular slide layout, which has room for an image on the left, as well as some titling in captions on the right. Now, as we look at this slide, we can see that there are some placeholders for elements on the slide. We have a title up at the top, we have an Image placeholder on the left, we have a place for a subtitle, and captions on the right.
As you're thinking about creating your slides. It's sometime tempting to just rearrange the slide to be exactly what you'd like. The downside to that is if you'd like to duplicate this format in the future, you have to start from scratch, and place everything on that particular slide. The best thing to do is to find a Master Slide that closely relates what it is that you're trying to accomplish or to place on the slide that you're using. Now this first slide in our project is going to have a picture of the president of the university. It's going to have a welcome message to the new freshmen. Because of that slide format I'd like to have welcome message at the top a left-hand image of the president and then his message on the right-hand side.
Now the slide layout we're currently looking at is close but it's not absolutely perfect. If I use the drop-down menu I can scroll through the other Master Slides and I notice that there's nothing else that seems to be. As closer related to what it is that I'm trying to do. So I'm going to go and keep the slide set as the caption and content on the left-hand side. In the next video, we'll dive into understanding how we can manipulate these slide elements, since we now have the slide format that we'd like.
