Adding your brand to Canva

- [Instructor] Canva has a plethora of templates, images, icons, fonts, and so many other resources available. But for most businesses, we want to make sure that the designs we create are utilizing our own specific branding, meaning our colors, fonts, logos, and anything else that will put your stamp on these designs. Canva makes it easy to be able to use this and have your brand locked into your account so it's easy to use and find every single time. Even if you have different branding for perhaps different clients or different projects you're working on, you'll learn how you can upload and organize your brand to your Canva account. So to get started, from the Canva homepage you're going to click on Brand kit and this is where you can upload your color palates, the fonts, and also your logo so that you can easily access these at any time when you're creating any image for your brand. So let's start with color palates. And what we're going to do is I'm actually going to show you my branding kit and we're going to upload my specific branding to Canva. So here's my branding guide and as you'll see, we start with a palate. I have this color of black, this color of white, this color of kind of a brown, and this of a yellow. But if I was going to just pick any sort of shade of yellow, it would be different every time if I was just like eyeballing it. But we don't want to be eyeballing. We want to be specific with the colors we choose. So what we're going to do is I'm going to copy this hex code and we're going to create the color palate very specific to what my new branding is. So instead of choosing just any kind of black in here, what we're going to do is for the color code, we're going to paste that code that I just copied. Now let's go back and get the next colors. So we have this shade of white, I'm going to copy that one. I'm going to click the plus sign to add this next color in, paste that, done. Let's go back to the next ones. I'm going to copy that hex code. Plus sign, I'm going to paste that one. Done. And the last hex code, copy, plus sign, paste, done. And I'm going to change this one, and I'm going to call this Marley Baird 2019. Now next up is the fonts, which my fonts for my brand are Avenir, First Take, and Lato, which are not part of the default fonts in Canva. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to look for the Avenir font, and you can download this from the internet as a TTF file, and upload it to Canva. So one of the sites I like to use, a site that I trust for finding fonts is dafont. So I'm going to type in here Avenir and see if they have it, which they do. So I'm going to click download. And it's going to download as a zip file, so I'm going to unzip that, and there it's downloaded as a TTF file. When I go back into Canva, when I want to upload that new font, it's going to look for the TTF file in my downloads. And I will upload that. I'm going to select yes that I have the right to use this for my own intended purpose, and Canva will upload it, and it will now be part of my Canva design software tools. Now lastly, I want to upload my logo so that I always have access to it. So I'm going to go to the bottom here, click the plus sign, find it in my documents, there's my logo. And I'm going to upload it so that it's always available to me. Now that you know how to upload your custom branding to Canva, you can ensure that all your designs easily include your exact colors, fonts, and other branding elements to be within your companies or projects guidelines. By having them uploaded to Canva, it will make your design time efficient and productive so you can get more done in less time.
