Expanding the ISO range
- As I'm sure just about every photographer knows, you can use the ISO setting in your camera to adjust your overall exposure. Obviously, when it comes to exposure, you're primarily interested in the lense aperture and the shutter speed, but you can use the ISO setting, which applies amplification to the signal received by the image sensor, in order to boost the overall exposure setting for the camera. Of course, there is a risk of noise, but with modern cameras like the Canon 5D Mark IV, the noise performance is actually quite good, so you can often feel comfortable going to a relatively high ISO setting. But still, the ISO setting in general is a little bit of a cause for concern. You want to be thoughtful when you're adjusting those settings, and in fact, the camera by default limits the range that you're able to use for that ISO setting but you can expand that range if you'd like.
