What is a screencast?

- What exactly do we mean when we say screencasting? Well, you watch a lot of screencasts right here on this website. Many different authors choose to share techniques with you about how they use different tools, and often those tools are on a computer. Well, in order to show that to you, we need to capture the computer screen so you could see what the other person is seeing. You want to be able to follow along, so it's important that we're both looking at the same thing when we're talking about a piece of software, or maybe giving a PowerPoint presentation. Well, in order to do this, we need to screencast, and what it typically means is making recordings. One of the things that most people don't realize is that a good video is edited. When you're giving a presentation or a demonstration, it's not uncommon to say um, or ah, or to, I don't know, maybe make a mistake or make a mistake, like that? You might repeat yourself…
