- [Instructor] One of the best things you can do to improve the overall quality of your screen recording is to learn how to properly manage your mouse. You may be thinking, I use a mouse every single day. What's so different about using a mouse in a screen recording? First, make sure that you're using the right mouse, a good quality, wired, USB mouse. Now don't get me wrong. I've become completely adapted to using my track pad and wireless touch-sensitive Magic Mouse for everything. But, they're all much more likely to move the mouse on-screen from sensing near touches during a recording. Therefore, when recording screencasts, I always use a simple, two-button, wired mouse on a mouse pad. The mouse pad will help create smooth movements on-screen and will dampen the sound of the mouse moving across your desk. Next, go to your system Preferences and select the Mouse preferences.
