Importing captions from an SRT file
- [Instructor] In the last movie, we used YouTube to automatically generate a free timecoded captions file for our movie, and saved that file in the SRT format. An SRT file is a plain text document that has been specifically formatted to include the starting and ending timecodes as well as any captions that are to be displayed during that time period. This is a common closed caption file type that can also be obtained from many online services such as automaticsync.com, or standalone software such as MacCaptions by Telestream. To import your SRT file into Camtasia, open up your Camtasia project and then in the media bin right or Control-click and select Import Media. Navigate on your hard drive to find your captions.srt file, and click the Import button. Camtasia should automatically detect your captions file and add it to your timeline for you. Since this is the file that we generated in the last movie from YouTube, you'll need to go up to your View menu and select Show Captions…
