Learn how to add media to the timeline to enhance your video. Corbin Anderson shows you the easy way to preview, then drag and drop any media clip directly to your project.
- [Instructor] I'm going to show you how to use media from the media bin in your project. Now that I have my media in my media bin what do I do with it? I need to get it into my project and make it work somehow. If I double-click on a clip I can preview it. I'm going to scroll down here to this video clip and double-click. Alright, that looks good. I'm going to close that out and go ahead and drag it down here to the timeline. And if I want to I can view it.
Let's try it with some audio. Let's go ahead and add, how about some music. Here I'm going to double-click to preview. (video sounds) Sounds good. Going to drag it down here to the timeline and look at that. There wasn't an empty track but Camtasia, you good guy you, you made one for me. Now if I wanted to I could edit this track. I could just mouse over the end here and resize it this way, I could resize it this way, I could drag it around but guess what? I happen to know that this music track fits perfectly with this video track.
Imagine that. Let's go ahead an add some sound effects. Go up here and see what I've got. I've got sound effects, drag them to the timeline. Look at that, Camtasia makes a new track for me. Now I've got my video, I've got my audio, I've got my sound effects. Let's give it a quick listen. (video sound) Looking better and better. Once again, if I wanted to I could edit this clip. I could resize it, I can move it around. Let's go ahead and add one more.
I'm going to go ahead and add the voiceover here. Just drag it down to the timeline and voila, Camtasia makes a new track for me. Now I have a voiceover, I've got sound effects, I've got music, and I've got my video. (video audio) I've now added four tracks to my project. How about an image? Now images are a little different. They have a lot more flexibility when it comes to duration. I'm going to show you here. I have a couple images here. Let's pull this image up right here, the end image.
Put it on my timeline and there's my image. If I wanted to I can change the duration. I can drag it this way, I can drag it that way. Pretty much it can go on forever. It's different than a video clip. Video clips have a finite duration whereas images can pretty much go on forever. I'm going to go ahead and resize this to about three seconds. You can see the duration changing there as I resize the handles. Zoom in a little bit so I can get that a little closer to three seconds.
There we go, pretty good. And I'm just going to put that at the end. Let's see how that looks. Now that doesn't actually work for this but you can see how you could work with it to make it work for your project. So there you go. You now have the steps for adding all kinds of additional media to your timeline.
