A night scene

- When it comes to photographic composition, one of my big pet peeves relates to the overall position of various objects within the frame. And there are two ways that I generally think about this. One sort of good and one kind of bad. The good thing relates to the overall composition, the juxtaposition of objects within the frame. For example, you might position objects so that they're framing up the overall scene. You might think about balance in terms of the weight so that maybe heavier objects, so to speak, are on one side of the frame versus the other. Using open space in one area of the photo. A variety of ways that you can think about how you're positioning various objects within the frame. If you think about the rule of thirds, for example, that certainly relates to the overall juxtaposition of objects within the frame. The problematic area relates to what I refer to as intersections.
