Welcome

- Hi there, I'm Tim Grey, coming to you from Rome, which is easily one of my favorite cities in all of Europe. It is, to be sure, a very bustling city. In fact, I'm on a hilltop surrounded by trees, in fact, with lots of bugs up in the trees making noise and to the west of Rome, near sunset, getting close to sunset, a great place to be in Rome when you want to get away from it all, you might say, and get a nice view of Rome. But it's bustling up here, it's crowded even here, not as much as it is down in the city below, but still, lots of people, lots of scooters and cars, and that means that it can be a challenge to get around and to try to get the photos you need without getting in other people's way or having people get in your way. But it is a remarkably wonderful city to visit and to photograph. Lots of great architecture, lots of just wonderful scenery, classic scenes. I've been impressed by Rome since the first time I visited and I keep coming back every opportunity I get. I invite you to join me as I visit some of my favorite locations in Rome and talk about how I'll approach those subjects photographically. In terms of why I'm photographing a scene or how I intend to frame up the subject, what camera settings I'm using. In short, I'll be thinking out loud and having you follow along so that you can learn. And, of course, what you learn will be applicable to photography in virtually any city or a variety of different locations. The idea is to help you better think as a photographer and anticipate what sorts of settings you might want to use and how you might approach subjects in a variety of different situations. So let's get started with some photography in beautiful Rome.
