Waiting for a boat

- When you think of Venice, probably canals are the first thing that come to mind, of course. And so if you're photographing in Venice, you're naturally going to want to focus on the canals and the boats that are going through those canals. And of course there are many bridges in Venice crossing the canals, and so there are many, many opportunities to find interesting compositions that involve those canals. Sometimes you'll want a relatively wide view that incorporates the buildings nearby, maybe a variety of bridges, a variety of boats, etcera. But in this case, I found a very tight little composition that I think can be a lot of fun, that sort of conveys a little bit of the mood of Venice, if you will, at least in terms of the aquatic element, the canals, the water, the boats. I've got a bridge here, a nice arched, bridge. And that creates, of course, a tunnel for the canal itself.
