Using the In-Camera Guide

- Your Sony a7 series camera offers a useful in-camera guide. This will give you an explanation for any of the currently selected menu items or functions. And I find this quite handy as it tells you what an item is to be used for. Now, in order to take advantage of this, you're going to need to map it to one of your custom keys and this can be assigned so that the in-camera guide is just a button press. To do this, pres the Menu button, then navigate to Custom Settings. Locate Custom Key Settings, and then choose the desired function button that you'd like to assign. You might find that function key 4, which is the trash can on the a7 II series could be available, but you do have other function buttons on the camera. Remember, these function buttons will serve other purposes when doing other shooting tasks, but in menus, they serve as a modifier button. All right. I've mapped that to function 4, so now when I have a menu item highlighted, and I'd like to know what's it for, it just press function 4 and it gives me useful information. You can use the Menu button and then the Control Wheel to select any different menu items that you'd like to consider using and then read a short description using that in-camera guide.
