Exposure lock
- Sometimes you're shooting a tough composition and you want to take more control over exposure. Let's say you're shooting a subject and you want to recompose the frame, but still use the exposure that's precise. Well, you can use the Auto Exposure Lock button on the back of your camera. And this is particularly useful when doing things like shooting portraits or panoramic photos, because as you pan the camera, or change, you could still force it to use the same exposure value. The lock button let's you meter, and then lock those values in. You simply press and hold this button to engage it. Let me show you how. First, make sure that the switch is set to Auto Exposure Lock. Then, frame up a shot that you want to use and half-press the shutter button to set exposure. Then with your thumb press down the Auto Exposure Lock button and hold it.
