- So we've talked about demographics. We've identified your target audience. Now let's talk about the importance of understanding your target audience. That's critical as you build these relationships, and as you start to get your name out there, and you start to become recognized in the community as the professional go to photographer. I want to share with you one of my most favorite quotes. It came from a gentleman by the name of Ed Foreman who is now in his 80s and lives in Texas. But I got it over 30 years ago in a workshop he taught at Polaroid. If I can see the world through my client's eyes then I can sell my client what my client buys. Now typically, when I mention that, especially if I'm teaching a live workshop, somebody always says, "Big deal. "What's the difference between that "and putting yourself in their shoes?"
