Long-time exposures (Bulb)

- Sometimes as you shoot, you want complete control over the exposure time. Now, normally your camera has preset values for shutter speed, but you could take precise control by switching to bulb mode. This could be useful for things like star photography, or shooting fireworks. And it allows you to take precise control over the shutter speed. Now to do this, you really need to be in manual mode. With bulb, the shutter remains open while the shutter release button is pressed all the way down. Now typically, to avoid any problems with this, I recommend putting the camera on a tripod and then using a remote controller. Sony and third parties make several different remote controllers that could be paired with your camera. You can physically plug one in, or use a wireless remote, or you can even use the controller app on your smartphone. To turn on bulb mode, simply put the camera in the manual mode.
