- Now that we've familiarized ourselves with the knobs and the switches on the tilt-shift. Before we head out to our first location, I just wanted to take this chance to show you a video, and the video here is my camera recording and I'm going to go through the movements so that you're able to kind of see what's happening in camera. So as I'm working with the tile-shift lens and using my viewfinder, you're kind of getting an idea of what I'm looking at. We're going to start with the shift and the top here is the unlock. So we're going to unlock. Then we have at the knob at the bottom to shift and I've got the 90 millimeter tilt-shift on currently.
As I shift to the left, you'll see the movement to the left. Let me come back to the center, and I'll come all the way to the right. Of course, that's going to be great for stitching together panoramas, which we will do later. Now what I'd like to do is, keeping the camera in the horizontal orientation here, is I'm going to show you tilt. We're going to do is unlock, which is on the right here, and I'm going to tilt up.
As I tilt up you will see a slight part of the frame go out of focus. Then I'm going to tilt down, again you'll see a small part of the frame go out of focus. Now what I'm going to do is rotate and so I pull this little lever towards me, and I rotate. Now that I've rotated, I can do shifting instead of horizontal, vertical, and tilting, instead of up and down, left to right. Let's take a look at the video and the camera of this happening.
I'm going to start with my shift, and now I'm going to shift up. Then we're going to shift to neutral, and back down. This is great for creating megapixel monsters. Back to neutral, and let's look at tilt. We're going to tilt to the right, and again we see a small area go out of focus. Back to neutral, should be very sharp. Tilt to the left, small area out of focus.
I'm really glad I had the opportunity to, kind of show you what's going on in camera as I do this and in the following movies as I talk through what I'm doing, this visual guide will really be helpful. Alright, let's get to a location.
