Lighthouse across the water

- I'm at the Cape Neddick Light, better known as the Nubble Light on the coast of Maine, and as you can see, it's a very picturesque lighthouse. A beautiful lighthouse that is set on an island just off the shore, and that really provides an interesting photographic subject, I'd say. And we've got some nice big crashing waves here, it's a bright sunny day. I was hoping for some nice puffy clouds to move in, but that's just not happening. With that said, generally speaking when I'm photographing a lighthouse I either want a nice, clear blue sky, because it sort of provides that nice, beautiful scape, or I want sort of a stormy look. And today with this lighthouse, at least we've got a bright blue sky. So there's a few things that I'm going to think about here. First off I'll think about composition. And what that really translates into is trying to figure out the best position from which to photograph the lighthouse. If I move too far to one side then I might get some obstacles in the…
