Lens controls and zoom functions

- Depending upon the lens that you use, it'll have a number of controls on it, or potentially very few. For example, a Prime lens doesn't have a zoom ring, but this particular Pro lens here from Sony has a lot of controls, so it'll vary from lens to lens model, and you just want to make sure you look at it carefully to see what options you have. For example, let's start with this professional lens here. In this case, it has the ability to change the zoom. As we move this ring here, it's going to change the zoom, essentially modifying the focal length. So, for example, there it's set to 70 mm, and if I turn it this way, it recomposes to 200. Now, the particular lens may have markings on it. For example, you see here that I could turn this from 70 mm to 200 mm, or really anywhere inbetween. These markings are going to make it easier to know what focal length you're shooting at. Another option you could do is manually focus with the lens, and the way that you do this will vary.
