- Your camera's autofocus can be pretty amazing. These days, most modern cameras can work in low light, the Sony a7 series in particular. And what happens is, is it's able to recognize a subject automatically. Now once it finds this, it can often set the focus of the lens. Now I tend to rely on autofocus when shooting because it makes it a lot easier to work. Keep in mind that it's very difficult to focus manually, and you'll often take more effort and time to do it than letting the lens and the camera work in conjunction. The first method is what you've already learned. Simply half-press the shutter button, and when it locks on to focus, it'll beep. You'll also notice that the focus area box turns green and the focus indicator lights up. However, your camera can actually continue to track a moving subject for you.
