DRO and Auto HDR

- If you're shooting a scene with tough contrast ratios, you'll find that there are two options inside the camera that could be useful. HDR for an Auto HDR and dynamic range optimizer, or DRO. These can help you by providing an in-camera solution that doesn't require any post-production or bracketed HDR photos. Now, the first method, HDR Auto, really will take a series of images and then combine them in-camera to create a new JPEG. Now, that's fine and it works, but the second method is bit more preferable as it will both create the optimized JPEG with added detail in the shadows and highlights and save the raw file. Let me show you how to pull this off. Make sure your ISO is set relatively low to have a noise free image. Somewhere below 400 is usually a good idea. Then, press the menu button and choose the camera settings. Make sure that you are shooting Raw plus JPEG in order to get both of these features.
