- Next, I'd like to talk about…the exposure compensation dial.…This is something you'll find on any camera.…And this allows you to compensate for the exposure…that has been calculated by the camera.…When you're in one of the automatic or semi-automatic modes.…So, whether you're shooting in full-program mode,…aperture, or shutter-priority.…The exposure compensation dial will work.…It doesn't apply to manual mode though.…So, keep that in mind.…Now, the idea is that the exposure…that's calculated by the camera,…may be technically accurate.…But, you might want the image to be a little bit brighter…or a little bit darker.…And that's what exposure compensation does.…
It allows you to simply rotate a dial…to make image a little brighter or a little darker,…to your taste.…It's typically done in half or third-stop increments.…And the dial can be anywhere on your camera.…But usually somewhere, where you're gonna find it,…under your thumb.…You may need to go into…a special mode on your camera to do it.…So, you'll have to dig into your camera manual…
