Dreary weather on the coast

- I'm at the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse on the coast of Maine and it is not the best day to be out at the beach for sure, it's a blustery day, it's overcast, it's been raining off and on. Not the best weather certainly. But very good conditions I would say for the photographs that I have in mind. I've been photographing some lighthouses on the coast of Maine and for the most part I've had pretty good weather which is certainly wonderful. The thing is that lighthouses really I feel are a subject that is most appropriate in not so good weather. Lighthouses are there after all to help ships when the weather isn't so good, to help them avoid the coast for example, and so I think a photograph that sort of shows that difficult weather around a lighthouse is much more interesting. So I certainly want to photograph the lighthouse, I want to get that sort of misty, dreary, foggy type of a look for the lighthouse. Here on this coast we have some wonderful rocks that stretch out into the water…
