- Now, having scouted this location, I realized that my normal tripod wasn't going to work. And handholding wasn't going to work either, because I want my lens so close to these incredible steel plates, that it's going to be a focal blend. So I needed some sort of stability ideally. Now I could handhold if I had to, but I have an ace in the hole in my bag, and that's this Joby GorillaPod. Super small, very flexible. It's great for an architechture shoot, because you never know when you might need to stabilize on a railing, or a staircase. Here it's just the edge of the bridge. I'm going to let go gently, and you'll see that I do have stability. Having said that, you'll notice, the straps around my wrist, and unless I'm shooting I'm hanging on. But it's a great little tool to have. I also had to take my ball head and switch it from my Gitzo tripod to the GorillaPod. And I had to add a little 3/8 to 1/4 inch screw.
