Attaching an external microphone to the camera
- With a full-frame sensor and great low-light performance, you'll get incredible visuals out of the Sony a7 series. What you won't get is great audio. The small built-in microphone just can't pick things up correctly. It's like holding a phone up on one side of the room while someone shouts from the other. It always sounds bad. So, what you need to do is make sure you consider using some sort of external microphone. Fortunately, you've got audio ports right on the side of your camera. It's going to depend upon the model that you using. In this case, I've got audio ports on the side. These will always be on the side They just might be next to the HDMI port on the newer series of cameras. And this allows you to plug in headphones for monitoring and an external microphone. There is a growing market of dedicated microphones for both mirrorless and DSLR cameras, including mikes with hot shoe adapters like this one that make it easy to mount the mike.
