Buying your gear

- When it comes to buying camera gear, there is one universal truth. There is never enough money for all the toys that you want. So, you have to make some hard decisions. It's really tempting to buy the latest and greatest camera body because it's got all these cool features and it's exciting and, you know, it's fun stuff. But where you really want to put your money is in your glass. If you buy a really good lens today, you'll still be using that lens five, 10, maybe even 15 years from now, whereas the camera body that you buy today is more likely to be something you want to upgrade every two or three or four years. So the real investment where you're going to put your real money should be in the glass. If you're just getting started, you can even look at buying a used camera body, something that's a year or two or three years old, and no, it's not going to be the latest and greatest technology, but it's still a good camera, and keep in mind that two or three ago, that camera was the…
