In this movie we're going to go over how…to download and install the Yii framework…in order to start development.…I'm going to focus on version 2.0.…Given that Yii 1.1 is currently in maintenance mode,…which means they won't be doing anything new…in terms of development…other than bug fixes and patches,…any new apps should use Yii two.…You can install Yii if you'd like by downloading…and extracting from an archive file,…but the recommended method is to use Composer.…However you do it, you're going to install it…in your web server.…
In this case, I'm going to use my MAMP server,…and I'm going to install it directly…into the Apache server they're in.…The first thing we're going to need…to do is make sure that we have…the asset plug-in because some…of these things are in the Bower repository.…This will allow Composer to connect…to Bower as well as the mpm,…which is the NodeJS directory, to get data.…So let's type in composer.…We've already installed Composer…to run at the command line…earlier in the course in the installing…
