Join Drew Falkman for an in-depth discussion in this video CodeIgniter app walkthrough, part of MVC Frameworks for Building PHP Web Applications (2015).
- In this movie, we're going to look…a little deeper at how CodeIgniter works.…We'll look at how the MVC architecture's implemented…and how code is organized in a CI application,…to get an idea of what it might be like to code in CI.…The first thing we're going to do is…we're going to go into our text editor,…and we're going to go ahead and Open up…that folder, so we can see what…the document structure is like.…My web server is located in the MAMP directory,…under htdocs, and there's my CodeIgniter file.…I'm going to go ahead and open that.…
And you can see I have a few different folders.…The user_guide contains the actual user guide,…so you always have a local version…to refer to if you need to.…You can also delete that if you don't want it.…System directory is where the main…CodeIgniter files are stored.…You can see how it's broken down into core and…helpers and database and other classes.…You're going to be doing all of your work…in the application directory.…So, if you open that up, you'll see where…a lot of these elements will reside.…

Q: When setting up Composer on my Windows machine, I'm asked to specify where php.exe is located. Where can I find it?
Q: Why doesn't my folder structure in Laravel match what's on screen?
A: Version 5 of Laravel was released after the recording of this course. The core information in this course is still valid, but the Laravel's main files have been reorganized. For more details on how this reorganization has changed the structure of Laravel files, please see https://mattstauffer.co/
Q: Why isn't mcrypt prepped for PHP when I run the phpize command?
A: If you're having trouble setting up mcrypt, you may need to change the directory from which you run the phpize command. You'll want to navigate to the /ext/mcrypt/ folder within the folder for the version of PHP that you're running.
