Understanding icon fonts (good and bad)

- One of the first types of content ready for HiDPI, and that people began using a few years back were icon fonts. Icon fonts are a font, like Arial, on your computer, except these fonts include special characters called Icons. Icon fonts are giving way these days a bit to SVG, or Scalable Vector Graphics, but they're still really useful for content on your page, like social media icons, button icons, page elements, and more. Let's discuss icon fonts a little more. You can see, I've got some examples out here on the page, these are actually text, it's kind of crazy. The font, if I go take a look just to show you, is right here in the fonts folder. You're gonna see, we have several versions for different operating systems, for different tools and platforms and different things like that.
