Course requirements

To follow along with this course the requirements are pretty straightforward. From a tools perspective, you'll just need a code editor and a number of browsers for testing. You can use whatever code editor you prefer. I am going to be working with Aptana on the Mac, a free editor for both Mac and Windows. Most of our browser demonstrations and testing will be using a pretty current version of standards-based browsers like Google Chrome. As the focus in this course is on some of the most recently released technologies, I'll point out, or you might run into a problem, working with more recent browsers.

You probably shouldn't depend on the techniques demonstrated if your client needs to support legacy browsers like Internet Explorer 6. Well, that's it for tools. From a knowledge perspective, you should be pretty familiar with both HTML and CSS, with a general understanding of JavaScript.
