Introduction to QWICS
- [Instructor] QWICS provides the framework for migrating and modernizing a traditional COBOL transaction processing application onto a cloud based Jakarta Enterprise Edition applications server. It requires minimal effort to migrate the code and results in an application environment in which modern web technologies can be integrated. QWICS is based on well-established mature and enterprise ready open source components. The first component is the application server. In modern large scale applications, Java Enterprise Edition application servers using enterprise Java Beans can be used to host major applications providing functionality similar to legacy transaction processing servers including two-phase commits. The QWICS solution takes this approach through the use of the Java Transaction API as well as transactional message processing via message driven Beans and the Java message service.
