- [Male Voiceover] Welcome to Cinema 4D R18 New Features. This is a fantastic release by Maxon. Just look at this list of new improvements to the software. We're gonna be covering quite a few of these in this course. There's the Voronoi Fracture object, a way of procedurally breaking apart objects. Some new effectors, the push apart effector, which can prevent claims from overlapping and the re-effector is a way of negating or resetting effectors and then re-effecting them. There's some improvements to the cloner, such as the honeycomb array mode.
The mograph weight tag allows us to paint a custom influence on claims and cache files can be saved externally, which means we can save space in our project files. You can also blend between multiple cache tags. The knife tool has been completely rewritten and is way more intuitive to use and more powerful. The thin film shader can be used for creating materials with an iridescent quality. Inverse Ambien Occlusion can be used for simulating sub-surface scattering and other effects.
Parallax Mapping can give depth to bump maps without the overheads of displays mapping and viewport improvements include realtime reflections, screen space ambien occlusion, and tessellations, so we can now see the effects of displacement in the viewport. So now we know what we're going to be looking at. Let's dive in.
