Make selections with Fields
- [Instructor] In this movie, we will take a look at how we can use fields to make procedural selections. So we'll have a plane here and what I'm going to do is just adjust the Width Segments. So I've got a slight offset and I'm changing this number so that I can create a kind of checkerboard like pattern. And creating a selection manually would be quite laborious but let's just convert this to a polygon object. Press C on the keyboard and going to polygon mode and you can see, yes, if we are selecting this, it is quite oh, I've lost the selection, but never mind, quite a boring process. And yeah, I don't want to do that, I want to use fields, which I can do now. So I'm going to create a selection tag first, so I can select anywhere and I can press V on the keyboard to select Set Selection. Or I could Select and Set Selection from this menu or we could do Shift + C and use the commander to type in Set Selection and it will automatically create a Polygon Selection Tag because we're in…
