- [Instructor] So what is data mapping? We know that the particles generated by X-Particles carry all kinds of data and we can use modifiers to manipulate that data into different particle flows. With data mapping, you can map a parameter in a modifier or other object to an element of particle data or some other data value, such as the document time. So we can produce some really interesting simulations and we have so much control over them just by using and manipulating the particle data. So let's just see how it works. In this example, I've got an emitter set up and it's going to shade out 100 particles just over a single frame without any speed, but we have a radius variation. And we've got a radius set of eight and a variation of seven. And if I come over to the Extended Data tab, I've set the same values up for the mass and I've linked the mass to the radius. Now, that means that particles that have a larger radius are going to be heavy ones. And the ones that have small radius…
