Building a vertex map setup

- [Instructor] Vertex maps in 3D are a great way to define weights and per point color of an object. They are typically used in weighting character rigs but they can also be used to drive shaders. In Cinema 4D R20, vertex maps became even more powerful in that now they can be animated, layered, and modified using fields. In this lesson, we're going to build a vertex map on the sphere object to control our shader's opacity and displacement in Redshift. The first thing we need to do in order to create a vertex map, is duplicate our sphere object. I'm going to control click and drag it up and then I'm going to turn off my original sphere. Next thing I need to do is go and press C to make that sphere editable. Vertex maps only work on editable geometry.
