Join Bill Weinman for an in-depth discussion in this video text counter, part of Using Perl/CGI Scripts.
- In this lesson you'll learn about the counter.…And you'll notice here at the bottom of the page…I've uninstalled the counter.…This is the error you get when you have something included…that didn't work for whatever reason.…That's like the error 500 just for includes.…I uninstalled the counter so we…can install it and look at it.…The point of the counter, from the perspective…of this lesson is not so much about counting visitors,…but it's about learning about a program,…the reads and writes to a file.…
A Perl CGI program that does that…and how those types of programs are installed.…And there's a lot of examples of such things.…Actually our blog script also will do that.…So it's good to know how that's done…in a smaller, simpler type of a script environment.…And that's what we're gonna do now.…So I've uninstalled the script…so you can see that it's not working down there.…And we're going to first take a look at the script itself…and then we're going to go in and install it.…
This is the source code for the script.…
