- Well, here we are where another type of wide-area network technology, which is VPNs. VPNs can carry your traffic across, they're virtual private networks, and they actually carry your traffic across securely, right? This is why we want to use VPNs because it does allow creations of private networks across the Internet. It's like if you're creating a tunnel within the public Internet so only you get to go through there and nobody sees what you're doing. Enables privacy and tunneling of non-TCP/IP protocols. Again, when you're doing VPNs, yes, that is what it's doing and we always hope it works properly. Easier to implement, it is easy. It's software, nothing really big to configure. And it is definitely less expensive than a permanent tunnel for remote users, meaning home users or people that work outside the company. Now its functionalities, it does allow local host to join a remote network through the WAN link that connects the host to the LAN. So it makes that particular host…
